Description:
For your "Dream" Vacation my 1,050 sq. ft. Beach Front, Ground Floor, Corner Condo could be what you're looking for. With so many condos for you to choose from, this is my one chance to tell you what I think sets mine apart from the others.
There aren't many condos right on the beach, where you can swim or snorkel right in front of them. And there aren't many condos where you can sit on the lanai and watch Humpback Whales leap out of the ocean during their winter migration to Maalaea Bay. When you walk into my condo and see the view of the ocean from the living room, you will be delighted. When you go outside to the large ground floor lanai, the spectacular 180-degree views of Maui's entire south coast, will take your breath away. Every morning you can sit on the lanai and watch the sun come up over Haleakala. It is truly, an indescribable experience.
Our condo is not an "interior" unit that shares two common walls. These have only one window in their master and their second bedroom window opens to a busy walkway or parking lot, allowing strangers to look in. They must keep the blinds closed for privacy.
My Corner Condo has NO NEIGHBORS on one side, allowing for 180-degree views of Maui's entire south coast. It is quieter, more private and also has incredible views of the beach from the front corner, master bedroom's large wall-to-wall windows facing both sides of the beach. Our second bedroom has views of the ocean, the tropical grounds, and the pool.
Our bedrooms are 'traditional' rooms with solid walls and locking doors, UNLIKE the 'loft' bedrooms that open to the space below, or bedrooms that are completely open to the living room and close with a flimsy folding wall, offering no privacy or insulation from noise. In the master is a new $2,600 King size "Sleep Numbers" adjustable bed with dual remotes. You can adjust the softness or firmness of each side individually. This guarantees a wonderful night’s sleep (for both guests), no more "too soft or too hard" mattress. Two twin beds in the 2nd bedroom can be pushed together to create another king size bed. The bedrooms have lovely bedding, beautiful window blinds, cooling ceiling fans and Cable TVs.
Our property is one of only three complexes in Maalaea, right on a sandy beach. The other seven are on a rocky reef with no beach and no swimming. Many use coin $$ operated laundry rooms (costs you money and you must sit and wait for your clothes). Two properties are right next to the busy Maalaea Harbor with its traffic, boat-engine noise and fumes. One complex doesn't have a pool and a few have distant parking lots forcing you to carry your bags a long ways.
The Kanai A Nalu is considered the best vacation property in Maalaea. It is located on a cul-de-sac, there is very little traffic, making it quiet and tranquil. Directly on a beautiful sandy beach, with beautiful tropical grounds, lush green lawns, 4 BBQ's, a pool-side eating area, comfortable chaise lounges, lovely pool ( it’s one of the few heated in winter), and a beachside shower. Free parking is provided just steps away. Being a convenient, ground floor unit, there are no stairs or elevators to deal with. We have our own in-unit washer and dryer and new “remote controlled” air conditioning.
My condo is on from Kealia beach. Beyond our property, it runs parallel to a "Government Protected" Wildlife Refuge. No development is allowed along this coastline because the endangered Hawksbill sea turtles lay their eggs here. It becomes Sugar Beach and runs for miles, all the way to Kihei. Take a morning walk on it and you may not run into another person. It's like your own private paradise. This is the most un-crowded beach on Maui. There are tide pools to explore and sea shell to collect.
My children and I purchased this remarkable "Absolutely Beach Front" condo in late 2005 and then spent 1,000's of dollars remodeling and upgrading it. We purchased new air conditioning, plush carpeting, designer bedding, towels, wall mirrors, lovely decor pieces, decorator ceiling fans, TVs, a DVD & two VCR players, hardware, faucets, lamps, rugs, dishes, patio furniture, beach chairs, new upholstery, wood window blinds and we repainted.
In late 2006, we added a $2,600.00 "Sleep Numbers" king size bed, Wireless & DSL Internet, remote controlled air conditioning, a new mattress for the Queen Sleeper sofa, two wall-mounted hair dryers (one in each bathroom), a crib for infants, and I repainted again.
In 2007 I did more upgrades, and replaced worn and damaged items. I try to go every few months because items disappear (beach towels, boogie boards) get damaged (bath towels, decor) or just wear out (bath mats, beach chairs). I installed elegant new counter tops in the kitchen, an exotic woven bamboo bar front and attractive new ceiling fans in each bedroom and each bathroom. I bought all new pillows, designer bedding and 300 ct. sheets for the “Sleep Numbers” King. There is a new comforter and sheets for the newer queen mattress on the sleeper sofa. I also bought a toaster oven, new kitchen accessories, new beach chairs, sand toys, 3 boogie boards, more beach towels, and I added new décor in both bathrooms. I bought a DVD player for the master (there is also a DVD/VHS player in the living room). I repainted and added a safe for my guest's valuables. I go often to keep the condo updated and beautiful for my family and my guests.
Due to the previous owner being in a wheelchair, the doorways are wider and the master shower is larger than most. Also, the lanai is twice the normal size. He was given permission to enlarge it, to accommodate his wheelchair, plus tables and chairs. It extends beyond the normal lanais, increasing our view even further. It has two tables and six chairs instead of the normal four. With large groups of guests, everyone can be together. Our condo is wheelchair accessible, and handi-cap parking is right out our back door.
We have a full size kitchen with new countertops, new stove top, on the full size stove, cookware, utensils, dishes and appliances including a large side-by-side fridge with icemaker, a dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and toaster oven, a blender, coffee maker and our own in-unit washer and dryer.
Also redecorated, the master bath has an over sized (wheelchair accessible), tiled shower with both a wall mounted and a hand held showerhead. The other bathroom has a full size tub, sliding doors and a shower above. They are accented with lovely nickel plated faucets, seashell themed art, plush decorator towels, rugs, and each has a wall-mounted "hotel quality" hair dryer.
There are THREE Cable TVs, two VCR players, two DVD players, a CD stereo system and a phone w/answering machine (free local calls). Even with the remote controlled air conditioning we have six ceiling fans (one in each bathroom to keep you cool and dry). We have free Wireless & DSL internet, new kitchen counter tops, new stove top, a microwave, dishwasher, toaster oven, an iron & ironing board, vacuum, crib, children's and adult's games, and movies (DVD & VHS), books on Maui, beach towels, linens, beach chairs, an umbrella, boogie board, sand toys, beach mats, paperback books, ice-chest and activity guides.
Activities and Attractions
What's near by:
During the winter months the whales can be seen from the beach, our lanai or from boats out in the bay.
About 1/4 mile away you will find several great restaurants from casual to 4-Star, and most have ocean or harbor views. The charming "Harbor Shops" shopping complex features wonderful shops and the Pacific Whale Foundation. There is also the Maalaea Harbor (one of Maui's main harbors) where boats leave on snorkeling, dinner and sunset cruises. During winter they leave on hourly "Whale Watching" trips out in Maalaea Bay. Next to the Harbor is the renowned Maui Ocean Center, a world-class Hawaiian aquarium with a clear glass, walk through "under water tunnel" allowing you to view sharks, manta rays and beautiful tropical fish without getting wet. At the entrance to Maalaea is Carl's Jr. (for a fast meal), a 76 gas station, the Maui Golf and Sports Park for guests of all ages. It features two fun and challenging miniature golf courses, a natural 4,000 sq. ft. lagoon with water falls, bumper boats, water blaster guns, rock climbing and an X-Treme Trampoline. We also have the Trade-Winds Mini Mart & Deli.
The drive from the Kahului airport is only 12 minutes on a modern four-lane highway.
Vacation Rental Amenities
We upgraded our condo and replaced worn and damaged items in 2007. The condo has “remote controlled” Air Conditioning, Wireless & DSL Internet, Wall-mounted hair dryers (one in each bathroom), a newer Queen Mattress on Sleeper Sofa, New Towels, New Sheets, New Rugs, Newer“Safety First” Crib, New Children’s Games, Sand Toys, an Umbrella, Ice Chests and New Beach Towels and repainted. We also have a $2,600 "Sleep Numbers" King Bed (individually adjusts firmness or softness on each side). Second bedroom has twin beds (can push together for second king). Located directly on four miles of “private” white sands beach. There are Six Ceiling Fans (even in the bathrooms, to keep you cool and dry), Three Cable TVs (Living room and each bedroom), DVD player, 2 VCR players, CD stereo system, Phone (free local calls), Answering machine and Glass dining table with seating for six. Full Size Kitchen has new counter tops, new Stove top, Dishwasher, Microwave, Side-by-side Fridge, Icemaker, Toaster, and Toaster oven,Coffee Maker, Blender, Dishes, Utensils, Cookware and more. Convenient Washer and Dryer. We have a Safe for valuables, an Ironing board & Iron, Linens, Paperbacks, Guide and Activity Books, Children’s Games, Movies, Mats, Boogie Boards, Double-Sized Lanai (largest in complex) seats Six, instead of only four, Lovely free-form Swimming Pool (heated in winter), outdoor, Gas BBQ's (shared), Beach side shower, Poolside eating areas, Wheelchair accessible, Parking is provided free, just feet from our condo.
