What is VacationRental-Hawaii.com?
We are primarily a listing service for vacation rentals in Hawaii. Many different types of rentals can be found here, the only requirement being that they are privately owned. Our owners have vacation rentals in Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Big Island, Lanai and Molokai.
We also provide other information about the Islands on their Home Pages, such as photos of places to visit while your there, activities available, the best beaches, golfing information, and much more. Visit them all if you have a chance, they are:

How does it work?
VacationRental-Hawaii.com has a home page, plus the 6 sections, one for each Island. At the bottom of the Home Page you can do a search for rentals on any Island; or if you don't choose an Island, you will get results from all the Islands.
To the left of the Search Box is a list of popular Hawaiian destinations for which we have rentals listed. You can click any of them to go to the vacation rentals in that location.
In the top menu under "All Rentals" you will find the link "List ALL Rentals" which will give you all the rentals in one long list. You will also see the link "Search All Rentals" where you can do a more advanced search to narrow down the results.
On each Islands Home pages, you will find links to things specific about that particular Island, and you can do searches for or make a list of that Island's vacation rentals.

How much does it cost?
Nothing! You may use our directory free of charge to locate and reserve the rental of your choice. We do not charge commissions, and you will be able to deal directly with the owner/manager of the property.

How do I rent a vacation rental on VacationRental-Hawaii.com?
All rental arrangements are made directly with the owner/manager of the property. We at VacationRental-Hawaii.com do NOT make reservations for you, and we cannot provide you with any extra information about the rentals.

To reserve your rental - browse through the Islands of your choice, and find one your are interested in. Most if not all of what you will want to know should be in the listing. Be sure and check the availability calendar to see if the dates you want are available.

If you have any questions about the rental, you may contact the owner/manager directly by going down to the "Contact Owner" box where you will find a link for emailing and/or a contact telephone number.

To make a reservation request, click on the email link where you will be able to enter the reservation information and make comments or ask questions. Most owners will reply to inquiries on the same day. If you do not receive a prompt reply after making several attempts by phone or email, we will be happy to assist you in contacting a specific owner/manager. Ordinarily the contact information is correct, but it seems that some owners are a bit lax when a request is made for a period already rented. We do our best to make sure the owners are prompt and courteous.

What are the TERMS and POLICIES when renting a property?
The terms and policies of every rental should be clearly defined on the property listing page. If you have any questions about the terms or policies of any rental, you can contact that owner directly to get your questions answered. It is best to get any agreement between you and the owner in writing before sending a deposit.

What can I NOT expect of VacationRental-Hawaii.com?
We cannot provide any information about any of the rentals other than what you see in the listings. Any inquries should be made directly with the individual owners.
We try to be as helpful as possible in getting renters and owners of vacation rentals together, but that is the limit of our responsibility. We do not act as a "go-between" for renters and owners other than providing advertising space. All communication between renters and owners should be done directly, without involving us.
We are not responsible for any information contained herein, but we do insist that any information included in the listings be accurate, and reserve the right to remove any that misrepresent themselves in any way.
The renter should always be sure they get a copy of any rental agreement and policies before sending any money, and determine for themselves if the agreement and policies are something they can live with. If there is any disagreement between renter and owner, it must be settled between themselves. If you feel that a rental has been misrepresented on our site in any way, please let us know and we will look into it and have that listing either changed or removed if we deem your complaint to be accurate.

RENTER'S AREA

What is it?
It is your own private space which you can access by clicking on the "Renter's Area" link in the top right corner of every page. In there, you have access to the following features and benefits:

• My Place is where you can save vacation rentals you are interested in while you are browsing. If a vacation rental interests you, you can store it in your Renter's Area by clicking on the "My Places" button. This will place that rental in your "My Places" folder. Later, you can view your saved rentals by logging into "Renter's Area" and checking your "My Places" folder.
• View Owner's Specials - You can view last minute discounts and specials for limited periods when they occur based on the criteria you specify, such as location, time and features.
• Leave Feedback - You can leave your comments about the individual vacation rentals which could be of benefit to fellow renters and the rental owners.
• Tips for Renters - We have compiled a list of helpful suggestions to help ensure your upcoming vacation is a success. You can also see it here below on this page.

How do I register, and what's the cost?
There is no cost, it is absolutely free. To register, just click on the "Renter's Area" link at the top right corner of any page, click on "Sign up Now" and fill out the little form. There is also more information about the program there. Or, you can click on the link which says "Join My Place" on any of the rental listings.

How do I save vacation rentals in MY PLACE?
When you visit our website, be sure and log into your Renter's Area. Then, when you go through the listings you will see a link saying "Add to My Place". Just click on that, and that listing will be added to your group of rentals in your Renter's area under "My Places".

How do I later view rentals I've saved in MY PLACES?
Just log into the "Renter's Area" by clicking on the link in the top right corner of every page, and then you will be in your Administration Area. Just click on "My Places" to see all of the rentals that you have saved.

Will my email address be used for other purposes?
Never. We do not give out anyone's email address to any other party for any reason, unless required to do so by law.

TIPS FOR RENTERS:

• Research the rentals carefully to make sure they meet your requirements. If you are not sure, feel free to contact the owner with questions before making the reservation.
• Reserve Early - You have a much better chance of finding the rental you want at the price you want if you plan ahead. This is especially important for the peak vacation seasons and Holidays.
• Find out what is included and not included - for instance, some rentals supply beach towels, some don't.
• Understand the cleaning policy - Are you expected to clean up before leaving, or will a cleaning fee cover that? How much cleaning are you expected to do? In any case, be sure and leave the rental in a condition you would want someone to leave a property of yours in.
• Know how and who to contact during your vacation if there are questions or problems.
• Make sure there are clear instructions on getting the key on your arrival.
• Make sure you have clear instructions on where the property is located and how to get there.
• We try to make sure all rentals we list are from reputable individuals, but we cannot guarantee that. If you have any doubts, ask for references, which might include prior renters, maintenance companies, cleaning companies, etc. If you find one of the listings we have is not as advertised, please let us know so we can rectify that.
• Be sure you have a clear understanding in writing of the times and terms of your visit before sending a check for a reservation. Be sure and make your deposit on time to avoid problems or extra charges.
• Travel insurance is often a good investment to protect you from unforeseen happenings.

All disputes between renters and owner/agents must be strictly between themselves.  If a renter has a legitimate complaint about one of the listings in VacationRental-Hawaii.com misrepresenting itself in any way, please contact us about it and we will investigate.  If we do find erroneous or misleading information we will either have it changed, or remove the listing.
